|
|
I found something on David Kang as being a shit recruiter on ESLCafe, but not Daniel Kang.
I never directly contacted this guy and he e-mails me with 19 full-time job vacancies. My guess is that some other recruiter pimped my info out to him, but I'm not sure. Perhaps my resume is floating around somewhere. I've been in contact with around 10 recruiters. So, I'm not sure who did what.
Whatever, the vacancies themselves seem legit but he hasn't provided any contact information beyond his e-mail and a Korean phone number. He hasn't even mentioned the recruiting service that he works for. Seems pretty fishy to me. I googled his name and some broad background info, but just found the same ESL jobs offered and nothing negative/positive about him.
It's a shame because one of the vacancies is a very ideal position for me and it would be a bummer if this guy was a bullshitter.
Is my intuition right on this one? |

Okay, he responded that he is from www.english.co.kr
I would bet that the website is legitimate, but I don't know about the person.
Has anybody dealt with this person before? |

Just not quite sure what to ask. I have some ideas in mind though.
I'm also concerned about chasing away legit recruiters by being too aggressive. |

You can never be too cautious.
A legit recruiter you feel good with, they will answer your questions. A shady one just wants *easy* money
Remember, its a year of your life, not his. |

Well, he gave me his business e-mail address and the B2B part of their website.
They are a "company outsourcing" business. This gives me the impression that they are not registered as recruiters by the Korean government like professional ESL recruiters.
I also fear that they may provide people more as independent contractors and really don't look into the schools they work with. Just dump and move on.
Might feel better to go elsewhere, but I'm not so sure. Any opinions? |

I don't know about Daniel Kang, David Kang did have a brother but I don't remember his name. David Kang was a nightmare! He routinely used forged diplomas, forged just about everything and lied constantly. He was a criminal all the way around and eventually went to prison. I made a statement to the police when they were prosecuting him about my case.
Some years ago, he cost me my airfare and I was let go 3 months into a contract at a school I really liked. They were suing him for several reasons, my recruitment being one of them. In a nutshell, they were suing him and it was a conflict of interest for me to be working there (with an ongoing lawsuit). So they had to let me go. His response to it all infuriated me, and I paid his office a visit. He locked his office and someone came out and told me he wasn't there. I'm waiting for the bastard to get out of prison, we still have some unfinished business.
From my experiences with recruiters, if you have a bad feeling about them, your gut is probably right. Better to bail on a hunch than to go thru hell with one of them. The fact he sent you so many jobs indicates to me that he's one of those people who collect positions and tries to get lucky pimping them out. |
