Does anyone know where to find organic peanut butter in Seoul?

At Costco they only have Skippy brand which has a lot of ingredients in addition to peanuts. I remember some very good peanut butter without the unwanted non-peanut ingredients back in the home country. Adams brand was a good one.

Without the extra stuff the oil does separate and so it has to be stirred when you use it, but I prefer the real thing. Anyone know where to get it in Seoul?

If not, I guess I could try putting in a product request at Costco to see if they would get it. They carry a lot of other organic goods there these days.

Cheers.

I've seen it at special organic shops for around 20,000 per jar but I couldn't bring myself to pay that much.

For me that would kind of depend on the size of the jar. Adams Peanut Butter I used to buy was in a large enough jar that I might pay that much to have it for an occasional treat.

I have bought organic peanut butter at E-Mart in Seoul (Yongsan Station) and in Gwangju, Jeollanamdo.
It is 14,000 won and made in Canada.

It is very delicious Very Happy

The only places I've seen what you're after are the higher end department food stores. Shinsegae, yawoori, akplaza etc. but it'll be pot luck.

I especially like this feedback and will go carefully cruising down the aisles at that EMart looking for it. Probably even sooner, I'll go cruising down my local EMart now that I've heard this tale to see if they have it.

Thanks.

I've got a jar of Adams natural here. I got it at the Red Door in Itaewon about 2 months ago. Skippy Natural was available at the Foreigner Mart until I bought the last 2 jars they had last Friday. Down the hydrogenated shortening. Costco only carries large jars of regular Skippy. Same ting you get anywhere else, but in small jars. Protein baby. I said protein.

You could always make your own (though I have to admit to buying Skippy. My little blender isn't up to the task.) Oh, how I miss Whole Foods and its make-your-own-PB machine!

Hi RS Refugee,

Sorry. I forgot to mention one thing.
You will find it in the organic / natural foods section at E-Mart.

I have also found organic maple syrup from Canada and organic pancake mix too.

However, all these items are obviously more expensive than Canada but they are much better than the crappy peanut butter usually found in Korea. The organic peanut butter does not taste like corn syrup/sugar.

Good luck in your treasure hunt!

From the Quizno's on the corner at Itaewon station, go around the corner to Taco Bell and go straight down the street a couple blocks distance to find an unmarked small shop with a red trim glass door.

This site is good for help on finding it and many other things in Korea. http://wiki.galbijim.com/Red_Door

Make it yourself!

Seriously, it's really easy.

Peanuts, a bit of oil and salt, blend, blend, blend and voila!

Delicious, homemade, crunchy peanut butter. You can even get creamy if you blend it enough.

Try almonds, or any kind of nut, if you want a new experience, or put some chocolate in there, or honey. The possibilities are endless!
