Hey,
I found this link today: http://joongangdaily.joins.com/article/view.asp?aid=2925168
According to it, they say the new link between Seoul Station and Incheon Airport will be ready by December 29th!
The time between the two places will be 47 minutes. I'm a little surprised as you can take a bus from Seoul station to the airport in about an hour if the traffic is good. But, it will make it much more convenient for someone like me who will now be able to go from Daejeon to the airport in about 2 hours instead of the 3 by bus.
Also, the article says that if you have a ticket with Asiana or Korean Air, you'll be able to do all check in stuff at Seoul Station and that eventually they want more airlines to participate in that.
A final part says that with the connection being in place, they will now be able to offer transit tours to Seoul for people who have long layovers in Incheon. Not too important for us since we live here, but better for people flying through Incheon. Makes me think of Singapore and the free tours they offer from their airport.
Anyway, just thought people might want to know. |

So you can check your bags there as well, and they'll haul them to the airport? That is pretty damn cool, and saves a lot of lugging stuff around.
Any idea how much the trip will cost? I'd guess somewhere between 5,000-10,000 won. The best airport in the world just keeps getting better!
How would they separate people who are flying on Korean Air and have gone through immigration with people flying on another airline and haven't gone through immigration? Maybe something like the first half of the train are people who have officially "exited" Korea while the back half are people still in the country? |

Incidentally, you can check in and go through immigration at City Air Terminal in Samseong subway station.
I believe the Incheon-Seoul Station line will have four or five stops. |

Ah, I'm glad this came up. I'm leaving in 2 months and I was wondering about something. I feel really incompetent, but I've read guide books and searched the internet and still really have no definitive idea about how to get to the airport from Seoul. I was picked up from the airport and taken straight to my apartment by taxi.
I live in North-East Seoul, but I'm prepared to go to Seoul Station in order to get a KTX to the airport. Is this possible?
However, on the subway map, it says that it goes to Incheon International Airport...is it actually the airport, or just nearby? I suppose I could get a taxi from that station? It's just that I've read that it's an arse to get directly to the airport.
Thanks for the help! |

If you're leaving in two months then you cannot use the express train because the earliest it will start is Dec. 29, which is more than two months from now. |

go to seoul station and take the airport limousine bus. it is fast, cheap and nobody is ever on it. beats struggling with luggage on a subway car. |

this is the extension of the AREX right? That has some sweet views heading out from Gimpo. I have ridden it a couple of times. It will be very convenient with that hook up. |

Better yet, find an airport bus where you live and take that. No need to go all the way to Seoul Station if there's an airport bus near you. |

those airport buses are pretty nice. Especially if you have a morning flight. Head out the night before and kick back in those big comfy reclining seats. |
