Has anyone been there? If so, what kind of treatment did you receive and what's your opinion of them?

Just curious ...

I go there because I had a herniating disc and some scoliosis. It took some time and money, but the pain is gone and my spine is better.
Most foreigners are sent to Dr Royer, an Austrian doctor who has worked in Korea for a long time. They also have an in-house gym which is pretty good place to train.

Overall, I like the hospital but may seem expensive if you are a Canadian, but worth it for the good service and care.[/i]

OK, my experience at Jaseng ...

after an X-ray and an MRI, the 'doctor' (Royer) tells me that I have "the back of a 70 year old". He then suggests an extensive and expensive course of treatment, including the hospital's wonder drug, developed in conjunction with Seoul National University, that can apparently heal nerve damage and fix bones. The price? 660 000 won per month.

Smelling a rat, I got out of there quickly. I thought any medicine that can heal nerve damage and developed with SNU must be in some medical journal, and with my access to medical journals ran a search but I couldn't find anything.

On Saturday I went to a real doctor, and he told me that there is no need for medicine and that a programme of physical therapy will fix the problem. Much of Royer's diagnosis was correct but it was told to me in such doom and gloom, and then of course he tried to sell me some snake oil to fix it.

I have no doubt that some of the treatments offered at Jaseng might work, but some are just highly expensive snake oil. Don't trust these people.
