I heard there was going to be an opening soon and I really wanted to hear from one of the current teachers what sort of program it is and what it is like to work there. I already spoke to a few people at their office in Kangnam, but I'd really like to get the perspective of someone who already works for them. Please contact me soon if you know anything.

Doing a search on the boards for BCM shows that most BCM's are pretty miserable places to work. Their name also comes up frequently on eslblacklist. Though I can't find the Ilsan branch anywhere.

Is this community center position something different?

Be careful. I worked for BCM Nowon last year and the demands they placed on me were beyond ridiculous. 14+ hour days, very little time off, schedule changes at every turn. Of the five teachers who arrived in Korea at the same time I did, I was the only one who made it through the original contract. Save for the horrible hours, I can't say they treated me poorly, but I was, in essence, a well looked after slave.

Conditions probably vary from branch to branch, so this might not be the case for you. But if you are going to work for BCM you'd better put on your big boy pants and be ready to suck it up.
