|
|
Hi
I will be graduating soon with a psychology degree from UK unversity and was considering ESL work. Korea is a place that interests me, yet from some of the threads I have read here it seems difficult for new teachers to get work?
I'm 30 also and have a little experience teaching, although it was music not languages.
I'm pretty flexible with where i go but would really prefer a city to rural areas.
I don't have my degree certificate yet so I assume I will have to wait for this before I could start applying, I would like to leave the uk next january of february.
Also I am male, white and reasonable looking albeit balding a little, as this stuff seems to make a difference right?
Thanks |

With the current requirements of having your degree copied and either certified by the K-consulate or having an apostille attached it will be virtually impossible to do anything until you have your degree in your hands.
Peak hiring periods for public schools are Jan-Feb for the new school year starting on March 2. The next big hiring season is June-July for mid Aug. starts.
IF you are willing to accept a hagwon with somewhat less than ideal conditions you can find jobs all year round.
Process:
Get your degree - get it copied and certified at the Korean consulate/embassy closest to you.
Order your criminal background check and get an apostille affixed to that as well. (it must be LESS THAN 6 months old when you apply for your visa).
Scan the documents and your passport. Send the scans along with your resume to recruiters.
You should get a few job offers fairly quickly.
After you get an offer and contract the process will take 12-21 days from signing to landing in Korea.
