|
|
Every day I pass through Gangam station (as I live a minute away from it and have to walk through it to get to work). I noticed some shops blowing off all of their inventory the past few weeks. This morning my favourite fruit juice stand was closed (fresh fruit juice and large waffle for 2500 won, hard to find that kind of deal when you live in Gangnam..) as was just about every other store. Some were vacant, some just appeared to be closed. It was just weird walking through there coming home from work as well.
Are they remodeling due to the new subway connection that's soon to arrive? I guess it's sorely needed since this is one of Seoul's premiere stops (the busiest single line station in the subway network by far).
Either way it's kind of sad to see one of the most vibrant (and at times extremely annoying to walk through when you're in a hurry) places in Seoul just dry up like that.
Then again, maybe it will be nice not to walk past 1000 cellphone stores each day who's employees just stand there fiddling around with their own phones. I'll miss the eye candy though.
Anyone have the real scoop? |

| Good question. I was in there this afternoon with a friend and we were both shocked. Looked like every place had been vandalized. |

| This could be due to the New Bundang Line that is under construction from Jeongja to Gangnam and is due to open sometime in 2011.... |

| I would imagine the rent for those shops are gonna skyrocket. |
