ATM Machines in Korea?

How you have to stick your hand inside the machine to retrieve the money...

I always do it superfast, because I'm afraid of the ATM door chomping my hand off Crying or Very sad

I once heard of someone losing their hand to an ATM machine here. They then tried to kick it and it took their foot too.

Lately when ever I try to pay a bill by transfer using my Shinhan ATM I get some weird error message right at the end after I have confirmed the receivers details. No receipt either. Can't tell if it's gone through or not, and don't want to double pay. I live in constant fear of a internet disconnection Shocked .
I once took out 200,000 won and then walked off without taking it out of that slot. The bank called my school and put it back in my account.

never occurred to me to be afraid of the machines eating my hand, but years ago, the ones linked to banks used to close up at midnight, and the doors would automatically lock. . .

They still do down here, my mate got stuck in there last year.....luckily enough one of the security guys was around and one of the guys outside was able to flag him down.

apparently there is a button inside that you can hit to open the door should you get locked in there.....can't confirm its existence though

My husband always panics when trying to get the money out. I always freak out at him and think the money's going to get stuck in there because he's so awkward at doing it. Those machines just aren't made for his big hands, though. LOL. Embarassed

Never stick your hand in a Korean ATM machine, you might get the HIV virus...

If you're worried about the machine latching onto you, use a set of those big cooking chopsticks to retrieve your cash!

What a high tech ATM Korea puts on. I like how KEB machines instruct you in English, "get your money," and then you do it quickly to avoid losing your hand in what appears to be a powerful highly secure machine. Even NH's are high tech. These ATM's are light years ahead of the monochrome screen things back home.

When is biometric scanning to start? Does it have hand detection technology in the money hole?

I always do it super slowly. I'm not afraid of the money eating my hand so much as I'm afraid I'm going to accidentally leave some in there.

It is possible to see the latest transactions on the ATM if you are a bit of an ATM wizard. At least it's possible with my Woori bank, but sometimes I forget how to do it and I have to stand there for 5 minutes trying all the different buttons.
