I just moved to Daejeon from the States and have been here for almost a week. I live in the Munhwadong area and am really looking to meet a few new people and make friends. I have read several posts from people who live here and was just wondering if you have any suggestions as to where to go to meet a few fellow ex-pats. So far, things have been very great here. |

This is my first time in Korea, and my boss has been incredibly nice. His wife has been so helpful. I thought that I would have a week of training, but started teaching on the first day of work. |

I have used the search function and found some nicer people. I just thought I would make my own thread for anyone who wanted to meet up or had suggestions. |

If you hit up the area near Timeworld on a Friday or Saturday night you're bound to meet foreigners there. Go to Sponge bar, there's bunches of them there, although I find it's not the friendliest of places. Just go to a GS or Family Mart and ask the guy where is Spongeee and they will tell you. That area is pretty awesome btw, I recommend Club Robot, it has mad lazers and plays groovy electro. |

Yeah, Timeworld has all sorts of foreigner populated bars/clubs. If you want a quieter scene, you can check out Santa Clause or the Shisha House, over in Kong-Dong. They're both next to Kaist, and have lots of foreigners. Personally, since I'm not too into wild club/watching white guys hit on K-chicks scene, Shisha House is my favorite. Owner's a French guy who's been here for a few years, speaks English fluently, a pretty nice guy. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I am very appreciative. I started teaching on Thursday and have spent the weekend setting up my apartment, so I will probably try one of those places later in the week. I do not think that I am too far from Time World.
Thank you so much for the help. |

I'm in the same boat. I've been in Daejeon for a month. I'm in the Sintanjin area. |

Daejeon Citizen have a home game on September 11th against Busan I'Park. If you go to the World Cup stadium and head to the south gate, there will be a few of us having some beers outside. You are welcome to join us there if you are into soccer. |

Thanks Beyee (spelling?). I love soccer, so I will put this on my calendar and try to come to the game.
Nadia, send me a private message, and maybe we can meet up somewhere. I live in the Junggu area, but I am pretty sure we can find a common meeting place. This is my first weekend here, so I have mainly walked around the neighborhood and checked out the Say Dept. Store and all floors of Home Plus. I am surprised by some of the places I have seen, mainly because I did not expect to find so much in one place. (Lots of Starbucks and coffee shops, a Baskin Robbins, KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Dippin Dots, two 7-Elevens.) I also found a train station as well as Costco. |
