- Which sentence:
- is correct?
- more grammatically correct?
- Why?
1) As for how I feel about my music, I want to share everything
with them.
2) As far as how I feel about my music, I want to share everything
with them.
To me, sentence #2 is clumsy .
I'd just say, I'd like to share my music with everyone.
But the textbook requires as far as or as for.
Any help appreciated. Thanks. |

Is saying that the textbook simply has a mistake a possibility?
Both examples are supposed to be discussing music, but instead are discussing the audience.
As for how I feel about my listeners, I want to share everything with them.
As far as how I feel about my listeners, I want to share everything with them.
Even in that case, I want to use colons instead of commas....
Music? I would say it is simply wrong in the book, give clearer examples, and move on...if that is not possible, I am afraid I can't help you -- they both look wrong to me.... |

Sentence 1's correct. Sentence 2 would probably have a prescriptivist in fits and doesn't "fit" the definition of the phrase, but hey- at least I understand the point. Same can't be said of everything I hear.
And yes, very clumsy. |

Thanks for the input. Yes, these textbooks aren't the best. This is for my co-teacher - and she really wants a grammatical explanation. Sadly, that's not my forte.
Any more input appreciated. Thanks. |

In my opinion, sentence one is correct. It seems to me that as for is being used correctly as a preposition that heads a disjunct. In sentence two, the idiom as far as ought to be followed by a noun phrase, which in turn ought to be followed by be concerned. Instead, it is incorrectly followed by the the adverb how.
Sentence two would be correct if it read, "As far as my feelings about my music are concerned, I want to share everything with them." In this sentence my feelings about my music functions as the noun phrase, which is then followed by are concerned. |

#2 looks like the typical kind of fragment we use in spoken conversation. To be complete, it should read 'As far as how I feel about my music is concerned, etc'. |
