Okay so smoking makes me tired and lethargic when I do it a lot or don't take alcohol with it (somehow the booze removes this effect.)

The thing I don't get is that it's mostly down my lower and mid back where I feel tired and drained, nowhere else.

So I've had blood tests and my blood is healthy, no cancer etc. I've had lung tests and my lungs turn out to be actually super fit. I've had heart rate checks and full med checks and on several occaisions have been asked if I'm an athelete! (honest.) I've even had x-rays as I was convinced that I must have lung cancer as the back of the lungs correspond with the area of the back that feels drained of energy...

Nada, no shadows, no tumors, all clear.

So the dos are saying I am actually very fit but I feel tire sometimes and mostly in that area?

What is that? Maybe the spine has a lot of nerves etc and smoking tires the nerves? So I feel tired along my spinal area? Drain on the nervous system?

Pilates help the lower back enormously. They're easy enough to do at home with a yoga mat. I hope it helps.

I do love yoga but can't do any exercise at all at the moment as I have worn medial menisci. It sucks as I love exercise.

when I don't smoke it goes away so it's probably pyscosomatic or nervous system effects from the cigs or possibly low blood oxygen levels I guess. It's no biggie really, just curious why it's in that area only.

Quit smoking?

Either way, there are pilates routines for fat/old/injured people. I started years ago with a Denise Austin book on the beginner level (I had severe back pain at the time), and in 3 weeks of doing them every other day (and they are EASY to start) I noticed a change.

Once you're feeling better, I'll send you some easy exercises to work your whole core. When ALL of your abs are strong (not just the glamor muscles Wink) your lower back tends to feel better, unless it's a slipped disc or something.

PM me if you're interested. The beginner stuff is pretty easy, but made a heck of a difference when I was in pain.
