My gf is black and she is interested in teaching ESL here in Korea. Are there any private schools that will employ her? Should she mainly focus on public schools? |

Public schools can be just as discriminatory.
As far as hagwon go, I'd say the largest chains would be the better bet, as in my experience they have employed a variety of different people. |

Public school or somewhere like CDI is her best bet. She is a female so that helps. |

I've known several female African-American teachers, in GEPIK (including one I went to elem. school with), in Ilsan, and in Incheon. Your friend has a better bet since she is female.
Ignore high-demand areas like Gangnam/Apgujeong in Seoul. It is possible!
Where do you live? Do you want to teach in the same city/town? |

I knew an authentic African from South Africa... in GEPIK... who got sent back home after a few months... from a mental break down, if my co-teacher understood it right...
Who was different from the African-American guy who disappeared after Christmat... but that seemed more related to family stuff back home.... which proves what they said in THE ROYAL TANNENBAUMS....
Family.... It's not a word, it's a sentence.... |

We both live in Canada but I'm heading to Busan to teach in about a month. I would prefer if we could both teach in the same town. I don't know if it is easier for her to get employed in Busan compared to anywhere else. |

Often the big hogwon chains have westerners (most often Gypos) in charge of Human Resources. I've been interviewed by a few Gypos in my past. That's a good thing because they'll have no issue with race (as it should be).
So i say try for the big hogwon chains (ECC, AVALON, TOPIA, PAGODA etc). |

Avalon hires all types. Looks are irrelevant because I've some some nasty people get hired there. And they aren't quick to fire either.
They hired a black guy recently who couldn't spell for sh*t, dressed quasi-rapperish, and they still kept him for 6 months. I don't know if he had a fake degree or if this is telling of some American colleges ...
Anyhow, if your girlfriend is solid, Avalon will take her, 95% guaranteed. |

2.0, 1.9, 1.8, 1.7... There's gotta be a cut off somewhere, don't you think? What's the optimum teacher salary to sudent enrollment ratio? |

I dunno about the student enrollment ratio, but as we know the optimum teacher salary is always gonna be 2 POINT! 22.
I hear those jobs are drying up these day, though. |
