|
|
I know some people have discussed this in the thread about visa changes, but I'm still confused:
How does one request a finger-printed CRC FBI check from Korea?
I know you need to get finger-prints done at the police station. Is it possible to do this on the weekend? Does anyone know how to ask for such a service in Korean? How much would it cost?
As far as getting the FBI CRC verified by the Korean consulate at home, do you need to let them know you're sending it for verification beforehand, or will it get lost in the mail?
Finally, not a question, but a vent: ARG. I thought I was all set-up to apply for EPIK/GePIK next year (teaching in a hagwon, happy but ready to move to public) and now this whole FBI CRC thing is making me wonder whether I'll miss the window for public school entirely. |

You only need the FBI check if you have left Korea for longer than 3 months (transfers/renewing) |

Perhaps the person at GEPIK was wrong, but I was told the rules apply to anyone changing schools after January 1, 2011.
My current visa expires January 6, 2011, and then I'd be moving to a new school after a month or two home in the states (hopefully.)
This is all pretty confusing. |

I spoke to a guy at the immigration department (dial 1345) and he said that if you didn't do the FBI check to come here originally you will need it to renew, get a new job, extend, whatever.... all jobs.. Whatever police check you came here with is useless unless it was the FBI one and if you want to stay in Korea on an e-2 you're going to need the FBI check.
One of my friends said he got the fingerprinting done at the army base in seoul and they even had the fbi forms and everything, so look into that. |
