I've been offered a job with Topyeong Middle School, but am completely unfamiliar with the area. I lived in Suwon (Yeongtong) my first year and never quite made it to Guri. Can anyone offer any information on this neighbourhood? |

I actually was in the Topyeong area tonight for the first time. I live about a 20 minute walk from there, so I can tell you that there's a traditional market about 15-20 minutes away, I saw a GS market within walking distance of Topyeong, and the school is probably a 15 minute bus ride from Guri Station.
I've posted on here several times how much I love Guri-I'm close to Seoul but still have pretty fresh air and Guri is large enough that I don't *need* to go into Seoul for everything. I don't know anything about the school in particular, but I will ask my co-teachers tomorrow.
Hope this helps! |

I lived in Topyeong-dong in Guri for a year. It's OK. It seems to be the area of the city where they put all the foreigners. I lived there even though my school was a 30-minute walk away in Doldari.
There's a nice park nearby. Lots of little bars and noraebongs and PC bongs in the neighbourhood. There is a traditional market, as another poster said, about a 15 minute walk away. Lots of restaurants. People are fairly friendly there. It's also not that far from Seoul. |
