|

Hey, I'm new, and I've been applying to recruiters and schools for about a week now with no results. Has posting your resume on Dave's helped anybody find a job before?
If so, is there a way to upload my resume or do i just need to copy the information into the text box? i don't really know how to format my resume well if it's just in a text box like that.
In general, how long is it going to take to hear back about any jobs? I'm willing to work anywhere in Korea, and I have a BA in English, I'm a good looking American male, and I have some informal teaching experience teaching English to non-native speakers here in the US. I'd think I'm a decent candidate, all those things considered. |

You don't need to post your actual resume - just post your basic information and your experience. DON'T post your phone number. No guarantees on any actual jobs but recruiters in Korea will start emailing you the next day.
It's not the only way to find a job in Korea, but if you're planning on using a recruiter anyway, it can't hurt to hear from as many as possible. |

I don't recommend posting a resume on Daves. This opens yourself to being "shopped" for primarily by recruiters rather than you being the one "shopping" for a recruiter or job.
When I was first starting to look for a job, I posted and received way too many offers from recruiters that often time borderline harassed me. All the e-mails sounded the same and I really didn't feel comfortable choosing any of them to work with. I felt more confident choosing a recruiter based on what I was looking for. In the end, I went with Korvia and am very satisfied with this decision.
Good luck!!! |

I'm having trouble imagining how people contacting you quickly to offer you jobs can feel like harassment, but maybe it's just something you have to see to believe. That being said, I'll give it a try I guess. I really want to get to Korea as quickly as possible. I just quit my job and I'm getting antsy. |

Mass e-mail after another even when being very clear that I was not interested is what I am referring to when I say harassment. I suppose that might be too harsh a word, but bottom line, there are so many recruiters out there and they are not difficult to get in touch with. Why go with one that chooses you when you could do the choosing based on those recommended on Daves? I have a feeling the pushy ones usingt he resume board are the ones worthy of avoiding...
Just sharing my experience, yours could be different. Good luck! |

I wouldn't recommend it. They don't actually read your post, but will add your email to their mass mailing list and send you junk which you have to sift through. |

Do it but use your "junk" email address.
I dont mind getting the mass mailings because I just ignore them. It was kind of cool getting a phone call from numerous recruiters though almost immediately after I posted my resume. |
