Hello all, I've been considering a move back to Ktown for a short stint. I have been offered an 8 month contract at YES Youngdo in Ansan (Danwon-gu). I've been do a little research on the internets and people didn't have very good things to say ( to say the least). Anyone on here know anything about this particular branch? Also, what about this particular neighborhood in Ansan? It seems Ansan itself is a nice city. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! Cool

I work for the public school system, so I'm not familiar with this hagwon, but I can vouch for Ansan. It has all of the necessities for comfortable living; bars, restaurants, major shopping centers and retailers as well as entertainment. Plus, you're only about 1 hour away from Seoul on the subway.

Danwon-gu is the epicenter of the city and is the preferred place to be. It's the main business district with all of the financial centers and city government. If you're looking for a vast multicultural experience or the hustle and bustle of Seoul, Ansan won't quite deliver, but it's by no means in the boondocks. I rather enjoy escaping the craziness that can come with living in Seoul.

I have a website launching this week that will highlight the restaurants, businesses and various areas of the city. I'll be sure to let you know once it goes live. In the meantime, if you have any more questions, feel free to e-mail me:

Best of luck.
