I am wondering if there are any places in Seoul who hire people without a degree and who have a holiday visa?

To teach English legally, one still requires a degree. But on a working holiday visa one can do other jobs like bartending, etc.

I'm not sure what the law says, but I worked with an "English teacher" who was fresh out of high school and here on a working holiday visa.
She was a better kids teacher than I, far better with the young kids.

This doesn't mean it's a good idea. That same teacher was paid less, lied to more, forced to stay in a crappy &**^&*- hole of an appartment, basically treated like dirt and ended up doing a midnight run after 3 months. Shocked

If that's what you want, go for it. Laughing

I never said anything about not doing it. I simply noted that it was illegal, and as such isn't any different than coming over and working on a tourist visa. It can be done, but it carries risks especially with the increased Immigration crackdown in force until July.

The homeschool teaching programes will hire someone without a degree. They will also paye you full wages, and paye for your tourist visa run to Japan every 3 months. These programes don't qualify for E2 visas, because they aren't hogwon based. They are big and manage to keep their teachers for the duration of their contracts, because methinks that they are paying off immigration. Either that or they are paying off the incumbent politician for the area who in turn leans on somebody important in the immigration department

I don`t care what Meathead said.

but this is english as a second language - It doesn`t matter what your background is in.

No degree - OK!
Biology - OK!
Computer Science - Ok!
History - Ok desu!
Chemistry - OK!
E-Commerce - OK!!!
Psychology - OK!
Sociology - OK!
English Literature - OK!

Don`t know anything about L2 learning and teaching methodlogy - OK!!!

In fact, you don`t need a relevant education.

Welcom to the wonderful world of EFL!

This might be true for the lower end jobs (actually thats true of most lower end jobs anywhere! Laughing ).
However its just not true of the better jobs out there.

Finally, you could teach illegally on a working holiday visa but like Gord said, its a risk.
