Is it mainly computer stuff, or would it also be possible to get a blender, microwave, etc. there?

Yes, but you're better off going to homeplus/lottemart/emart or checking craigslist. You won't get a better deal in Yongsan (it will probably be more expensive, actually).

There's a guide in the FAQ forum on Yongsan. Basically, you need to know where to go in Yongsan to get good deals. The marts (homeplus etc) actually have some decent prices (lotte in cheonan has a toaster oven for 27k) and there's probably one thats more convenient for you than going to Yongsan. The advantage Yongsan has is selection (and again, you CAN get good prices in computers if you know where to go), but it really is mostly computers and consumer electronics.

You can get anything there. Just walk across the tracks and out of the blue building.

In front of you will be nanjin arcade - phones and games downstairs, cameras upstairs.

To the right of that is the seon-in plaza - computers, parts, accessories, repairs and anything else you may want that is computer related (cheaper than at the station).

To the left of the arcade is the home wares stuff. 3 or 4 buildings to wander through.

across the street and in-line with the arcade is the light market (fixtures for all occasions).

If you just want something simple like a bread maker then upstairs (5th floor?) above the station is the place to look.

As always, be price aware for the products you are looking for or you will get burned (as anywhere in Korea).

.

You can buy most anything there, including home appliances. Before HomePlus and E-mart it used to be the place to go and can still be if you know the prices beforehand and are ready to drive a hard bargain. But you still probably won't save much over HomePlus.

I just bought a nice Philips blender at Shinsegae. It was on sale and the sales clerk was able to explain its features in comparison with other models. They had similar models at E-Mart but the price was about the same and while the sales clerk there was nice she couldn't really tell me much beyond what was on the box. Yea, I know--what is there to tell about a blender. But when they've got a dozen models to choose from, it helps.

Has anyone noticed that the Ipark area is getting awfully sparse? Any ideas on why? Economy? Moving out? Reorganizing?
