Had to make this thread after my previous one magically dissapeared. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why not say what you are interested in and are looking for in a city first. Then people can help you narrow it down.

Though there is no reason for all of that really. Busan is far better than Seoul.

You're funny!
In one of your last posts, you seemed more concerned with how many girls you could bag.

To me, this question used to be relative to when I visited Busan.
I first went to Busan on New Years Day, 1999. Back then, it was awesome and the people were VERY friendly (I mean, if you could distinguish the accents between people in Seoul-Gyeonggi Province and South Kyeongsan, the accent in South Kyeongsan sounds more 'hospitable' with their intonation). I mean, people would pass by me and smile and either say 'hello' or the simply 'anyeong'. Even a simple trip to a convenient store was greeted by an aumani (sp?) with a smile.
But it seems people there are more hostile toward foreigners and less friendly than back then. I mean, my ex-wife even said that Busan seemed like a 'city full of country folks'.
I would recommend Seoul for many of the reasons you mentioned above- there is more culture and art in and around Seoul than down in the provinces. Also, if you ever had an emergency, you'd have a better chance of finding an English-speaking doctor in Seoul than in Busan.
But...if you like being close to Japan, then Busan is for you. There are ferry trips leaving Busan every so often that will take you to Japan.
But then again, if you want to go to China, you could take the subway to Incheon and hop on a ferry there for Tianjin or Dalian.

It's all up to you.

The post I placed here is truthful. I am interested in the girls in order to help me pass the time, BUT, it is not as important as the 5 other things I listed.

I am interested in going to Japan. I never really thought about going to China, but if its that easy, it would be pretty cool.

This is one reason I like Busan. I have gone to stores or restaurants after 2 years being away and instantly been recognized and greeted, sometimes by name, and last night by my full name (including middle!). I'm sure Busan isn't as homey as it once was, but I really love it. Feels like a small town.

Busan, like any backwater is a good place to visit but never to live in.

Busan has more character than Seoul. The only thing Seoul has over Busan is the arts. There is practically zero music scene down here except for foreign bands.

Well if your into Death Metal cehck out Club Realize in KSU or MOnk in PNU, went to two shows last weekend. Fantastic. I like living in Busan. I havew been to Seoul a few times, but Busan is big enough for me. We have Costco and beaches and good night life. But if girls are you main concern go to Seoul. However, you shouldn't have a problem getting a date in Busan either as long as you are alteast half way decent and presentable.

Bull. I know there are a half dozen or more korean punk rock bands in the area plus some metal acts. You just aren't looking.

Not really a death metal or punk fan. While it does make for some interesting neighbors, I prefer Hip-Hop.

Is there a "Hongdae" of Busan, from the arty cafe/gallery/restaurants/art school standpoint?

The whole country is a reality-show version of "The Beverly Hillbillies", from top to bottom.

Busan's just easier, faster, and cheaper to negotiate around, cost of living is lower, and the expat community is big enough that you don't feel homesick.

Air pollution is much worse up in Seoul. The attitude of Seoul is that of any big city--arrogance beyond belief. It also gets much colder there in the winter (+ snow).

I've lived in Busan almost 10 years now and wouldn't move up to Seoul if my salary was doubled.

punk and metal bands does not a scene make. I have seen some of those said bands and they are all right. Nothing too amazing though. Apart from that though there are nothing.
