if i get hired from within korea, should i expect the school to give me the money that would have been spent on my plane ticket? if the school doesn't offer to give me said money, how should i go about asking for it, if at all? |

I would say don't bother asking. And if you get hired from within Korea, how do you plan on getting your visa? Assuming a visa run is even an option for you, that's going to cost your school quite a bit of cash. |

Hired in Korea - the general policy (not written in stone nor is it law) is for the school to pay for the visa run and supply the flight home at the end of your contract.

For context, I got hired in country with zero experience and my school flew me to Guam and gave me 100,000 to spend there. I still ended up spending like 50,000+ extra due to Guam being ludicrously expensive to get around and just getting to and from Incheon, but the ticket and stipend came out to around 550,000 or so, which isn't that much less than a one way ticket would cost off-peak. |
