I don't understand the reason why it is so difficult to find work in Korea? I know immigration is changing the visa rules, but why is the market so closed off? There are lots of jobs, but lots have restirctions such as F2 - F4 visa holders, MA degrees, females only, etc.
Is Korea currently in the process of weeding out foreigner teachers? |

I imagine the biggest factor is the crap overseas economy. More people migrating to Korea looking for easy work, more people lingering in Korea because they're afraid to go home.
The increased restrictions are a natural by-product of a saturated workforce. |

F-2 F-4 are far easier on the admin level, perfect for people who don't want to commit to a one year potential Demon from Hell.
MA only is for Uni jobs
Females is .. for females
The job market is tight because of the huge influx of job seekers. Demand and Supply.
Supply is soaring, but Demand grows on economic variables and not due to Supply. |

1- The ESL market has been flooded with US applicants for the past couple of years as a result of the American economy going into the toilet.
2- As a result, the market swung from an employee dominated market where demand far out stripped offer (more jobs than applicants, into an employer market where schools have the pick of the litter (far more applicants than jobs in many areas, especially Seoul).
3- Endgame: employers get pickier, competition picks up for most jobs and people need to work harder to land a position.
The F-visa issue is simply that people on a Resident visa tend to already be in Korea (can meet employers in person) and tend to be viewed as more stable employees as well as having simpler visa issues (more flexible in employment). |
