Just trying to get some broad information to see what I have to save and what not. So how much would a flight (twice? during the application process?), application fees and moving expenses (deposits, how much for initial rent?) would it take me to begin teaching ESL in Korea?
Basically how much, general, would I need to have saved from today to the point I move in and begin teaching? |

What do you mean by flight twice during the application process? |

Don't you have to fly back to your home country during the visa/app process? |

Get all your paperwork squared away before coming to Korea. If you have a job lined up, they will pay/reimburse you for your flight and take care of your housing.
However, it is advisable to come with enough money to get by for a month (because you may not get paid for a while) and have return airfare just in case. I'd ballpark it at around $1000 to be safe for most people. Though the peanut gallery is likely to argue how they did it with two nickels and a wad of gum. |

No....most people apply with a recruiter, you get all your paperwork done, & your future school applies for your work visa for you.
Most contracts include flight there/back home (at beginning and end of contract) for you. |

I'm planning on bringing $1000 US. Unless of course I can double that up in Vegas the week before I leave. |

Yup, it will take you probably 2 months till you get over there though. You have to apply, get placed, fill out all your docs and send to Korean consulate, then send them to your school and your school will have to apply for your work visa. I applied beginning of June and will fly over Aug 24th approx.
Do you know what area you want to teach in (if you have a preference)? |

Balzor is correct, you CAN get by with less. However, I highly recommend you have enough buy a ticket home if you end up in an awful situation. |

Can you begin in the spring, instead of just the fall? |

you can get a job at almost anytime of the year, but most jobs are filled in the fall and the spring (September/March I believe) |
