I used to eat really healthy organic food at university. There was a farmers market right near my school, so it was great.
Then my 2nd and 3rd year in Korea there was a nice little "mom and pop" style veggie place near my house. Not sure if it was organic though.
Now I live near Garak Market. I think it's the biggest veggie market in the country. But I usually only see big trucks going in and out, so I'm not sure if it's opened to the public or not? Anyone know?
Also, I'm pretty sure if they are selling to stores and such, they probably have foods that have been bathed in pesticides and other chemicals. I want a place that grows or at least sells, all natural organic veggies with no pesticides or other chemicals applied to them.
Anyone know of place? |

My cousin set up this website, but I doubt that it's any good in Korea yet... if at all.

With all the chemical spraying that goes on on farms in SK it's hard to believe there's any really organic food.

Maybe it's funnier if English is your second language. Or if you're 12. |

Seriously, the idea of "organic" food is a complete non-sequiter. I respect the OP's right to eat however he pleases, but he, and other proponents of this way of eating need to be able to accept ridicule. Science doesn't really back up your ideas. |

I'm with the OP in thinking theres something to be valued in foods that have been raised naturally & havent been sprayed with poison.
Its true that we cant yet entirely trust Korean organic certification but there is definitely a movement to improve. Health food stores, organic sections in supermarkets, there was none of that here 5 years ago, but theres lots on offer now. I'd like to think there are some conscientious farmers out there. Discerning Korean customers also want to see the govt more proactive in regulating this. |

and there's something to be said for food that's benefited from the now 21st century's food explosion. With added hormones, preservatives, additives, etc, the available foods have skyrocketed!
Now, so has the waistlines of those in the west, and even those starting in Asia, if some of the fatties in hagwons are to be believed. But like they promised in the 60s, 'Better living through chemistry!'
Now, there's 'better killing through chemistry' with agent orange, mustard gas and the like, but ain't science grand!
Now where can I get a good Hacky Sack and some ganja? |

Science is starting to back us up on this. I can't find a link to it right away, but the White House recently released a study that showed a number of the pesticides and chemicals we use on vegetables along with the horomones injected into our meat has had dramatic effects on our health as a whole. Many of these chemicals lead to estrogen production and thus in women causing them to develop sooner than is natural and leads to an increase in weight gain in both men and women. When this extra estrogen is produced in our youth, it often has long lasting effects on the human body. Creating problems that may become nearly impossible to solve later.
There's more than just hype behind the organic/green revolution. Human beings are the only species in the history of the world that processes it's food supply. After a billion years or so, it looks like we're finally learning how to eat. |

But, Alex Jones would say this guy is an evil new world order dufus for thinking this way...brainwashed people who think GMO Frankenstien foods are good are, how can I put this nicely, NUTS!!! Half of the food out there is not even real food...it is poison plastic silly putty food...anything with weird sounding ingredients most likely should not be eaten, as well as things with more than 6 ingredients...sad but true, most things we should not eat, and we should eat less, just eat enough to survive.... |

Haha, good one. I figured this guy might be one of those conservative creation nuts.
Obviously the "billion" was me just being sarcastic, but I think the scientific community has agreed that the earliest forms of humans began showing up about a million and a half years ago. |

You underestimate the food prep and storage capacities of other species. |

Sigh..... No I don't believe in creation by an omnipotent deity.
And I'm not talking about Obama. |
