Hi,
I'm new on the board but I've been lurking for a while now...

My husband and I are looking for positions in SK... we're pretty open about where we're willing to work, just no small towns. We've only been seriously looking for less than a week now but I'm just wondering how long this should take.

We both are midway through completing a B.Ed after degree and have some experience with kids.

Any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated,
djinn

Took me a few weeks. If you have B.Eds the recruiters should be fighting over you. I saw some jobs posted on Dave's a while ago offering 2.6 million for B.Ed. people only, I'd dig through and look at some of them.

When are you looking to start work? Your problem might be that you're looking too far ahead of time, school here generally work on a list minute basis.

well... we don't actually have our B.Eds yet. We're taking a year off from a two year after degree program; we've finished the first year and will finish the second after a stint in Korea. We have B.A.s already.

We're looking to start late may or early june... do you think that's too far away? It seems pretty close to me when I still have to give notice at work, and on the apartment and pack up my entire life to put in storage for a year! Shocked

I have a B.Ed...damn I'd better look around more. Sheesh! I'm only making 1.9 but I'm only teaching 3-4 classes/day.

Took me 3 months to find my first job. Take your time, and be thorough in your research. There are tons of jobs out there, don't feel pressured to accept the first thing that comes along.

It took me over a month to find something I was satisfied with. A lot depends on what you are looking for. There are a lot more jobs teaching kids than adults, so if that's what you're after you should have lots to choose from.

Good Luck

I would say if you are not doing the Visa run then it will take you two weeks to do all the paper work. (Assuming you are willing to pay DHL)

I managed to hammer down a job in a week!!!! First job they wanted me then changed their mind, second job they wanted me and kept me.

So around a month to do all the paper work etc, but if you did that you would not get a free trip to Japan, something I regret now!

It sounds like the difficulty is not your qualifications, but finding two jobs at the same place.

24 hours.

Posted my resume.

Heard back from a lying recruiter - how was I to know? Didn't know about this forum at that time.

Flew a month later.

Worked in a bad work environment for the year but had a GREAT social life through the teachers that were there. Made up for the school.

i was a somewhat picky.

take as long as you need. you DON'T want to get caught in a bad school.
patience will pay off in the long run.
