A few months back I was reading a discussion on here and it got me thinking that what we need is a simple directory so those looking for a job in a certain country/locale could compare what was being offered to what they knew others were getting. Transparency.

Not a blacklisting thing or complaining. Just basic facts about jobs.

So I made THIS MAP DATABASE as a solution.

Totally anonymous. Just enter job details - either your present one or a previous one. All entries go on the google map and can be searched/viewed by others.

Hoping teachers will get the point and help out. Teachers helping teachers.

Cheers,

DD

Thank you to those who kick started the map by posting up some anonymous job info.

I think the idea is valuable and I'll keep plugging away and it will take off. Just need each teacher to take the 3-5 min. to input some info....

Cheers, enjoy the weekend.

Great idea, I will be adding. Not sure how you have Seoul arranged, but you might want to separate areas since there are so many teachers.

Great job David! I would love to post my information. Unfortunately, I'm concerned there could be repercussions. Pretty easy for my school to pinpoint the information back to me. And, if I were being honest, my school would not get a glowing review. Just a lackluster one.

I don't want to be fired for disclosing my salary and/or making less than stellar remarks about my company.

I still think it's a great idea!

BBF - I can respect that and everyone has their own "limit" or decision. However, don't think of it as a place to "review" a school. Just a place to post up the facts of your job - salary, hours, benefits. The aim is transparency and I think any employer (or most) would understand that.
Further, you can always post up a friend's job or a previous job. Any info. helps others.

lifeinkorea - The whole thing is to be developed further once the database grows. So yeah, I'll eventually put a search bar in where you could zoom the map quickly and also pull up lists of jobs based on neighborhood/city/country etc... Also, it will eventually go on one big world map where users can drill down by scrolling/clicking the map - until they get where they are interested in. A work in progress... that's the nice thing about the web - very flexible and easy to change once you have a strong underlying structure.
