Hi, I am moving to Siheung City at the end of the month. Does anybody know of any good English-speaking gyms/yoga studios in the metro area? Any general info about living in the area that I should know about? |

Do you know where in Siheung you'll be? Which dong? After you figure that out, get to work on which bus(es) will get you to the nearest subway station or bus hub so you can get to Seoul. |

How long it takes to get to Seoul will depend upon which subway station you're near. That said, I used to live in Siheung not to far from Ansan Station. From there it would take 45 minutes to an hour to get to central Seoul. To my knowledge there was no Red (inter-city) bus going from Siheung to central Seoul.
My suggestion: Get yourself a Korean driving license, scooter or motorcycle, and a map. It is not fun being reliant on the buses outside of Seoul. |

You should be able to find out where you'll be by looking at your school's address (on your school's website, or your contract).
If you can't read Korean, post the address of your school's website here and we'll tell you which part of Siheung you're in. |

If you're near the Oido/Jeongwang end of Shiheung, there was an English speaking yoga school about 20 mins away at Hanyang Uni at Ansan stn, run by an American guy. I'm round there anymore though, so I'm not sure if he's still in business.
If you're at the end near Bucheon, I've no idea. |

That's at the Bucheon end. Siheung covers quite a large area, with people concentrated in the extreme north or south, with an expanse of ugly nothingness in the middle. The south is effectively in Ansan, and the north effectively Bucheon. |

I lived in Daeya-dong about seven years ago. Then it was about 10-15 minute bus ride to Bucheon or Sosa Station, and another 30 to 40 minute subway ride to various destination neighborhoods in Seoul (Hongdae, Itaewon, Jongno). There may be express buses now.
Daeya-dong was an alright place to live. I saved a ton of cash because it was cheaper to do anything than it is in Seoul, and there wasn't much nightlife during the week.
I remember seeing several gyms back then, but don't expect a lot of English speakers. |

I've been here fore a few days now and have really enjoyed it, especially since the damn jet-lag went away. Made my way to Bucheon today. Does anyone here still live in the area? |
