|
|
I just got back to Korea and decided to get an iphone, but iphone 4 is out of my price range and i doubt ill find it anytime soon anyway.
just curious where i could get a reasonably priced iphone 3gs and if someone had any experience buying those online in korea
i noticed that they are pretty cheap on gmarket, but my korean acquaintances were skeptical on using gmarket for electronic goods saying it's probably fake...
what do you guys think? |

Just got mine last month in craiglist for 750,000 won. It's iphone 3gs 32gb, it's a korean iphone with no contract at all, so i just bought my own sim card and it works. I suggest try posting in craiglist seoul saying "WTB iphone 3gs with no contract and openline". |

Yah I know but I can't consume 55k won load at all in a month. Imagine paying that kind of amount for two years. Anyway it's my own opinion only. If you are a heavy users you must apply for this one. Thanks for the info, I'll share it with my friends. |

Hate to pile on you, beercoy, but I can't believe you paid 750 for an obsolete phone. |

I would have to side with beercoy on this. I, too, don't spend much on phone service. I use the pre-pay service through SKT. I put 30k on my phone and that usually lasts 1 1/2 - 2 months. If you do the math it works out to about the same as the gmarket deal. Plus, beercoy doesn't have to mess around with getting some Korean to buy the thing for him. |

I guess if you don't really use the data service you might want to buy the phone upfront. But if you aren't using data, why get a smartphone?! |

You can always use the readily available free wi-fi if you already have internet at home and aren't addicted to it.^^ Plus you can use all the applications like the bus route finder/games; and, for some, it means one less device to carry. |

im not sure if the cost of the lost for someone who will sell the iphone for cheap. but the harm could be that in one month trying this and iphones don't suddenly go down. either way, it still is a lot expensive. now i know what not. not to do. |

newegg Korea or newegg from NA and ship it here?
Has anybody ever done that?
Just curious what kind of tax Ill be charged and if it will even work in Korea?
I heard iphone in Korea need to be added to some kind of a system for them to even work
Any other suggestions except for craigslist and 2 year contract?
I'd rather buy the phone upfront and sign up for a cheap contract and then sell it when I dont use it anymore rather than commit for 2 years |

I thought Korea was a CDMA network, meaning they do not use Sim Cards? |
