(my transcription)
"...I'm with Sun Media for only another 3 weeks. The owners of the paper are starting a new TV network which is supposed to be the Fox network of Canada... My contract has been ended... I'm too heretical even for this chain that's carried me for 27 years.. Apparently the new Fox TV station is designed to support the Conservative PM of Canada Harper who is following GWBush's playbook to the letter. So heretics like me who question war in Afghanistan or deficit spending or any of these other things are being shown the door."
This is very bad news. During 2003 Margolis was a very strong opponent of the Iraq war and has been proved right in his concerns. His columns are (were) carried clean across the country in the Sun papers. |

I'm sure he'll get picked up by the Globe and Mail. |

I don't think so. He's moving back to New York. Additionally, if you listen to the rest of the interview (min 10 - end) you'll see that he's speaking about things with an honesty that the Globe wouldn't permit (he is, in my recollection, usually more measured). For example he favorably quotes Pat Buchanan's "Capitol Hill is Israeli occupied territory." The Globe won't touch someone like that.
It really is a terrible development. |

The media situation has been in crisis for a long time now, as it concentrates in fewer and fewer hands. My hope was that the internet with all its independent reporting, but in the light of the story I just posted about the government's shutdown of tens of thousands of blogs, that is getting dashed as well. |

^ Maybe he felt a little bottled up at Sun anyways. |
That's about as close as I've seen Margolis, or for that matter any mainstream columnist, come to saying that the 9-11 skeptics have a few points in their favor. No, I don't imagine that would have gone down so well with Quebecor. |

Yeah, me too, with one exception. Pat Buchanan posts videos on his blog that argue Israel (with help from collaborators in the US government) was behind 9/11.
