|
|
Yes, that''s right my TOUCH died last week (1st generation). It's got 'the connect to itunes' problem. I've tried all the options to reset it to factory settings to no avail. I took it to get repaired at an apple authorized place, but it will cost 279,000 to fix it...
I need something new, and I've been looking at alternative PMPs and would like something with a bigger screen, but still portable. The Cowon V5 looks very nice, but I don't want to spend 400,000.
Has anyone tried other PMPs? There's a Korean company called Lisse and some Chinese/Taiwanese companies called Levnos, Ainol, and Onda. All of these make 4.3 and 5 inch models, and go for 100,000 - 150,000. |

Just get a smartphone.
The days of PMP's and MP3 players are numbered. Smartphones with 4'' screens are excellent PMP's.
The AMOLED screen on the Galaxy S is way better a screen than any PMP out there, AFAIK. |

Yes, a smartphone or new ipod touch are nice, but they cost a lot more than a PMP (or the monthly fees add up to a lot more).
I might invest in an Iphone 4 next year, but I need something until then.
I can get a used TOUCH, but I'd like to try something with a bigger screen, but still portable. |

I don't want my iStation V43 (30GB NAVI model) anymore.......it's a bit old now, but working perfectly.
Id give you a good price. If you only need a temporary stop-gap it would do just fine. |

I'm a bit of a audiophile. If sound quality is your highest concern. Get a Cowon. I had a ipod nano 4gb and I killed it in a freak accident. Switched to a Cowon Iaudio 9 to replace it, cost me a little under 200,000 on Gmarket. Compared to the 2, I like the Iaudio better.
Ipods are definitely more user friendly. That 'Wheel' really makes a difference when u ff songs. And it's definitely easier to figure out how the thing works. Menu navigation, plug and play, etc
On the other hand, the Iaudio has very, very crisp sound. I have UM2 IEMs, and all my songs are encoded at 320kps, some are 550kps. At this sound quality range with decent IEMS, you shouldn't have a problem with your music. But with the ipod, a 320 kps song and a 550 kps sounds the same.
You don't get that problem with the Iaudio. It's also cheaper, great EQ, and tons of spaces, battery life is about the same. But it does take u a lot longer to get used to it. Especially if your switching over from an ipod.
Battery life is on par with an Ipod nano. Roughly a day-2 depending on how many settings you've got on or you play videos. If your willing to pay a bit more for a higher up model, I think some of em last a week.
Once you got the player, you need to find yourself a pair of decent iems |

Couldn't agree more.
3 steps to portable sonic nirvana.....
1. Get quality high-bitrate files....
2. A good MP3 player like a Cowon (I have the S9 and it's the best sound I've ever heard from a portable)
3. Good IEM's.......some of the IEM's out there will astonish you with a vivid dynamic sound you would never expect from portable sound. |

Thanks for the replies. I'll take note of that Cowon, but I'm really after something with a sizable screen with which I can watch movies and show photos, but still be fairly compact (and cheap).
I've found a few online and will check some out at Hi-Mart and Homeplus.
If I get one, I'll post a mini review! |

There are shops in Yongsan that specialize in ipod repairs and charge much much less than the authorized service center. If your ipod has a common issue, there's an even better chance of getting a reasonable quote. I don't know any specific places off hand, but I'd consider this option first. |
