As the title says,

Looking for something along the lines of;

CPU - i5/i7
RAM - 4/6gb
GFX - HD5870/GTX460
MB - Any reliable

I'm also looking for a GOOD 24" monitor to go with it.

I can build all this myself with brand new parts for 1.5mil including a 24" LED monitor so price ofcourse needs to be lower than that.

Thanks.

For this amount of cash you can buy a custom built gaming laptop with top of the line parts. If your willing to spend all 1.5, whatever's left over should be enough to cover customs.

I'm not after a laptop, after a PC.
The 1.5 I mentioned is what I WILL spend if I need to buy everything brand new, which ideally, I don't want to do.

So if anyone has a PC around the same specs, I'd rather save money and buy it second hand.

I think his point is that you could build it yourself, desktop or laptop, brand new, for less than that. As an example, I just got my gf a 16 inch "desktop replacement" with those specs and it was only 1000 USD.

What the shit?

Anyone want to point me in the right direction?
I've been looking on Danawa and G-market, calculating component by component...

He won't be able to keep an i5/i7 system + a good 24 inch monitor under 1mil won if the parts are new. Not in Korea anyway.

Also a good point. I buy almost all my components from home and then just bring them here in my luggage. Still boggles my mind what people are willing to pay here for electronics when, in America at least, you can find them for much cheaper.

Let me help 'unboggle' it. I don't know about American Prices, but I'm from London UK. From what I've seen component prices are cheaper or the same here in Korea.

A sweet i7 quad core gaming desktop runs close to $1000 right now on Ebay in the US. You get 4 CPU's running at 3.06ghz and 6GB of RAM along with a great GPU like nVidia GeForce 9500GT 1GB memory.

OP, are you pricing the parts at Yongsan for about 1.2m won not including the monitor? If so, then buying it in Korea costs more as I'd expect to build this system with a guestimated $700 back home right now not including monitor. I want a Qosmio X500 laptop right now with these same high performance specs so it's portable enough to take out of Korea.

i7 Quad is nice, 6gb RAM is nice, 9500GT? That's a bit too low than I want to settle for. The GPU in my list is the most expensive component, coming in at around 500-550,000.

Gaming Laptops on the other hand I've seriously thought about and I really wouldn't mind getting one. But to be honest, I don't know too much about them. In terms of how hot they get, how long their parts last etc...

Don't mean to troll but a 9500GT has no business in an i5/i7 system. That card is 3 generation old junk compared to today's GPUs.

OP honestly if I were you I'd just build the system here. You obviously know what you are doing. Take care of it, keep all the boxes and manuals, and you can turn around and sell it in a year or two for a decent price still. (50-70% of what you built it for) The parts should still be worth a lot in Korea at that time.

Another site I use for parts is: http://www.joyzen.co.kr/
At times you can find a deeper selection or lower price there. Gmarket tends to be on the high side.

If you are paying 550+ for a gtx460 in Korea, youre a fool. I was just looking two weeks ago and they were around 300.

I bought a laptop in the end. MSI gx660 for about 1.4 mil won. Taking into account the exchange rate, it is about the same as what you would pay in the US.

Think he's talking about the 5870. Which is a fair bit stronger than a 460.

Yes I was talking about the 5870 -.-.
The gx660 is a good laptop, but the CPU was lower than an i5-750 (for 1.4mil, I think the i7 was about 2.2mil).

So for the same money, you can get a stronger desktop with bigger monitor, but ofcourse you loose portability.

I think I'll stick to Desktop even if the Laptop is as sexy as that.
