|
|
Hello! My bf and I are heading to Fukuoka for Chuseok. We have never been to Japan before.
1. The best place to stay? We are willing to spend $70-100 a night in Fukuoka?
2. The best things to see or do in or around Fukuoka?
3. The best things to eat?
4. Any other suggestions?
I appreciate any input or tips! |

Get a hotel near the subway line.
Depends on what you like to see/do. If you like the city life, night life, then I would suggest staying in the Tenjin or Nakasu area.
Another hint: hotel price are usually cheaper when you get them at the Fukuoka airport. Go to those hotel booth at the airport, their price are usually cheaper than online prices. But if you're going to do this, make sure you have an idea of where you want to stay, immigration might ask you where you will be staying. You can just give them any hotel information. |

Take a gander through the visa run sticky for Fukuoka. There is a ton of information in them about accommodation and things to do while you are there (in addition of course to the visa run information).

stayed both times there in the Tenjin area. Oyafukudori and Watanabe-dori have some pretty fun nightlife and shopping underground. Check out a Softbank Hawks game at the Yahoo Dome or head to the Castle Ruins. Near by there is also a great Shinto Shrine with priests doing the fan thing and drums on the hour. |

I was in that city in 2007. Hmm, not much to do or see there but a few bars were good (I can't remember their names). A taxi ride that would cost 3,000 won here will cost three times that amount in Fukuoka.
If you're into Japanese stuff, however, it is a trip worth taking. |

Thanks all! Your information is helpful, especially the tip to run through the visa run link. Good info there. |
