Well lads Froyo is finally here.

HTC Desire will be updated tomorrow.
Galaxy S/U/A have yet to be decided but it will definitely be sometime this month.
So if you have a Desire, I would make sure it is charged and ready for the update tomorrow! |

iPhone 4 is coming out this Friday so I can imagine Samsung will want to do something to take any attention away from the release. I don't know the date exactly but I have a feeling by the end of this week or next. Then again, I am not a betting man. |

I've heard from a few sources that Samsung will have Froyo integrated with their Touchwiz apps ready for November....
.....and I've also heard that the announcement timed to coincide with the iPhone 4 launch is that the Galaxy S2 will come out in Q1 of 2011 and significantly beat the iPhone 4 in hardware spec......and it will probably run Android 3.0......very rumor-ish, though. |

Anyone got it yet?
Any idea what the file size will be? I'm at school with no wifi (though I still have 400mb left on my bandwidth, which flips over on the 18th.) |

They are not sending it to you, you have to download it yourself.
Here are the instructions:
Go to this website:
http://www.htc.com/kr/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=312&act=sd&cat=all
Where it says:
HTC Desire 프로요(안드로이드 OS 2.2) 업그레이드
and the green link that says ROM 업그레이드. Click it.
On the next page it will say the same and click 다운로드.
On the next page go to the very bottom.
In the first blank you need to type your phone's serial number. You have to open your phone up and take out the battery to find it.
The second prompt is which file, click the one in English.
The third prompt is which server you want to download from. I picked Asia 2 but up to you. Then click the 다운로드 button and it will begin downloading. Very slowly I might add. I am still downloading it now so will update this message once it finishes. |

Which number is it? I typed in 일련번호, but it didn't work. I got this error message.
입력하신 일련 번호가 올바르지 않습니다. 다시 시도하십시오
Will it really delete all the info on my phone? Even contacts? Pain in the ass, how do you back that stuff up? |

Why does it ask for 일련번호 when it wants the serial number? (S/N
What are you meant to do with it after that? Why couldn't they just do over the air like a normal person? 99% of people with this phone will probably never upgrade. |

Good grief. They could have freed up some server space. I think the download just crashed humming along at 16KB/s. |

Bloody finished. Now on Froyo!
What a hassle that was!
Let me help as best I can.
First, do not choose an Asian server. I started downloading the file on one and decided I had enough after an hour at speeds of 3kB/s. I changed to the US server and downloaded at over 150kB/s.
Yes, this does delete everything from your phone. It is basically a reformatting of the phone. You need to sync your phone to your PC first and save all of your contacts.
How to sync: (pain in the butt to figure out)
Connect your Desire to your PC. Mount it as a disc drive. When the folder opens, you will notice a file at the bottom called HTCSync2.0.34. Execute the file and install the program.
This is where the problems happened. You will most likely receive an error when you start up the program after installation (if you are running Windows 7). It will have an error saying "tlib_log.dll" is missing. It actually isn't. You just have to move the files around a bit.
For Win7 x64 users: I found the required dll (and others) in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Teleca Shared and ended up copying them all to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
For x86 (32-bit) users: copy the files to C:\Windows\System32
Once you do that, then the program will run fine. Sync your phone to your PC and save all of your contacts. You can also create a folder with all of your apps and MP3s etc on your computer so you don't have to download them again.
Now just run the Froyo update and let it do its thing. Make sure all of your windows and programs are closed. Takes less than 10 minutes. Once done, you now have Froyo. Now sync it up again and move all of the contacts back and all of the apps, etc back.
Voila, complete!
Let me know if you have any problems...back to setting up my phone how it used to be. |

I was wrong. It does't delete everything. It only deletes your contacts and apps but not what you have downloaded. Well it didn't for me but I would still back everything up just in case. All the apps I downloaded from the internet were still there and I just had to reinstall them. |

It would be better if it didn't delete your contacts. It should only delete what is on the Rom, I'd imagine it wouldn't touch the SD (Froyo supports installing apps to SD anyway, right?
Off topic, what is the camera like on yours? Mine takes beautiful, crisp, clear photos but I have to remove the back cover, as the lens cover is opaque and foggy. Is yours the same. Actually, I have quite a lot of problems with it. The SD card randomly unmounts about 3 times a week. |

I don't know if I had my contacts saved on the SD card but better to be safe than sorry.
My camera takes nice pictures. I never bring my point and shoot and hardly bring out my DSLR since buying the Desire. My case doesn't cover the lens. It is an open hole.
My SD card has never unmounted on me. It might just be your phone. I would go talk to an SKT representative about it.
I haven't had any problems with it but have only had it for about a month and a half. I can't wait until the unlimited data kicks in. Just received a text this morning saying it will activate on the 26th of this month. |
