My co-teachers are encouraging me to give out homework. Apparently the parents like seeing their kids do it.
Ive given out worksheets from time to time, but I've never given out homework after each class.
To those of you who give out homework....how often do you do it?
I work with an elementary school if that helps.

The high level elementary school aged ones, taking two classes a day at the hagwon, get homework every day I have them (every other day for them); the lower level classes don't get homework simply because it's harder to enforce, except in the cases of a few younger ones. The every day class of middle schoolers get homework occasionally but rarely does everyone do it and it's frustrating but they're teenagers. |

I give token H/W to the young elementary school students and always mark it off as done, whether they have or not. It's just reading, which they've already done in class.
The older elementary school students usually get 1-2 pages to do over the 2 days until I see them again. The might get more though if it's to be done over the weekend, or they've been mucking around in class. In the case of the latter, they'll get everything we didn't get finished during class + what they were getting as homework anyway. |

The elementary read and write/fill in the blank sections are what I give out to the 5th and 6th graders. However, they can do them in 10 seconds or less so I wanna say "0" too. |

None, my kids won't do it. Also, I try not to contribute to the missed youth these kids have from being in Hagwons till 11:00 at night every day. They get plenty of homework without me piling on. |

I give something for every elementary class every night, the amount depends on the level and if I need to catch up at all. |

I never set written homework. Korean kids have enough already. More to the point, when I did set homework, I had to spend too much time in the next session chasing the 80% of kids who didn't do it, which hurt the diligent 20% too much.
I will occasionally ask kids to research something fun online, but it's never serious. |

I no longer give homework. For every 2 or 3 students who attempt to do the homework, there are dozens who just copy someone else's work. These days, I just point to the helpful exercises in the work book and suggest they attempt them. There are no points for homework, but I am happy to 'conference' with the 2 or 3 who do the exercises and review their work. |

Most of my kids I only see once a week, so by the time I see them again, they've forgotten about it and I've forgotten about it. |

I notice it is the new people on the boards that give homework, whereas the old hats know better |
