ESL Teaching Community
I am seeking Christian ESL Teachers in South Korea to assist and advise me in applying and securing a position at a Missional Christian Academy or International Schools.
Sam Kwang International School? I heard they will be looking for a teacher or two in February.
Thank you for your kind consideration and openness to befriending a committed brother.

Good for you! But remember many time many of the Christian school are just the name only not the spirit. Very Unchristian like behaviour for some I have heard.
Also I have heard that some Christian school are very bad when it comes to pay. I once met a couple that was in 2001 that was working at a Christian ESL school and they where get half of what I was being paid. They were getting suckered for their goodness.
Still all to you brother. |

I would agree with that. Christianity here is very different than back home. Ive worked for a Presbyterian HS and it was just a regular high school which a missionary founded ages ago. I worked for another who actually had a church service on the weekends, but most of the staff didnt go and wasnt Christian. The owner was just a bored ajushii who offered the building to some military chaplain and boy, was he a piece of work (the ajushii). Luckily, Im really thick skinned and he didnt bother me about it.
Id suggest working just in a school and going to an intl church and volunteering and such. They say Korea's now 35% Christian, but Id bet to say most of them are not really religious. |

You'll find that quite a few of the international schools in Korea have strong Christian affiliations. Take a look at this link:

My husband works for Sam Kwang International Christian School. It is a great school with awesome kids and they do stick to the Christian mission as well as they can and treat their staff well. However there was a recent change in management and now most of the administration don't speak much English which has been pretty frustrating in recent months.
Watch out for KCIS because it is a Bob Jones school and they fully expect all staff to follow ALL their rules and they will punish you for your sins if you break them. If that is your idea of a good Christian school, then have fun. |
