|
|
Does anyone know how this works.
for example once i get my 3 month temporary work visa in my passport am i able to come to korea on that visa even if say my job doesn't start for another couple of months?
if i did this would i then just have to get my ARC in the remaining 1 month? and then would i get 12 months (i think it is being increased to 13) on my ARC from the start of my contract?
as far as i can work out that is what happens anyway but for most people it is a few days or weeks rather than nearly 3 months.
forget about accommodation etc. i'm just curious as to whether it is possible if i choose to go down that route.
the reason for this is because i am already living in korea and paying rent. so if i get a job that doesn't start for a while i don't want to have to sit around abroad somewhere waiting before i can come back. |

Your sojourn is 1 year and begins on your date of entry.
If your contract starts later than that and runs for a full year then you will have to get an extension toward the end of your 1st year so that your ARC and contract expire at the same time.
simple procedure and it is done quite often.

yeah thinking back to my past jobs here i think you are right. i think they all started the one year from the date that i entered. rather than the date i started my contracts but they always seemed to work out well
although my last job my manager tried to get me to work longer on my contract without getting me a visa and therefore wanted me to do it on a tourist visa. but thats a different story.
i'm just wondering what options i have. i assume that there must be some sort of cost for the school if they have to extend my visa by a couple of months right?
if there is then surely isn't this going to put them off from hiring me?
i can't imagine many schools being very happy if i returned to korea 2 months early.
what do you think? |

yeah that's a new thing that started this month. i'm not sure whether that month is a working month though or is effectively a tourist visa month.
either way its just to save immigration and us time because of lot of people always had plane tickets that left a few days after their ARC ran out. therefore lots of people always had to waste time getting a 1 month tourist extension just so that they could go home !! finally someone with half a brain at immigration has sorted it out !!

The cost of the extension is HIGH (not).
30k won + 6 pieces of paper:
ARC,
passport,
contract showing end date,
business registration,
letter of sponsorship (guarantor form from the employer),
application and
30k won
and 15 minutes at the immigration office.
