I was outside this morning up in some hills and actually found
2 odd 10 won coins that I've never seen before. I found an identical
pair on this website: http://www.cointalk.com/t37640/
And you'll notice the year stamped on the bottom: 4294
I guess that means it was made in 1961. 4292 is 1959 I suppose.
Anyone have any idea why they're stamped like that? Odd... |

I found a 10 won coin from 1972 in my coin jar a moment ago which made me curious what old Korean coins you all have found.
Back in the US, I occasionally found buffalo nickels and wheat cents in my pocket change. The coolest coin I ever found in the US was a three cent piece from the late 1800's. |
I did find 10 won coins from the late 60s. I definitely have a 1970 100 won coin somewhere. I collected many Korean coins. You are talking about coins I found. I have older coins that I bought. It's impossible to get a 500 won coin from 1998. |
