|
|
I don't have a lot of money to spend, but I want the best bang for my buck.
I can upgrade to:
Intel Core i5 750
ASRock P55 Extreme
G.SKILL Ripjaws 4GB DDR3 1600
Radeon 5750 or 5770
Price = 650-700K won
Right now my PC runs ok with a dual core and a 9600GT and I have an Xbox 360 controller for the PC. However, it's not great for games starting around Bad Company 2.
The Xbox 360 Slim is running around 400K won
Since most Xbox games are available for PC, my goal with the computer is to run any Xbox game now and in the future without any problems. I guess I want my cake and eat it to. I'd like to get a nice upgrade and save myself buying another Xbox (my old one RROD).
What do you think? Does the setup have enough guts?
Bonus: Could I make do with a lesser computer? |

What CPU do you have now? Maybe you could get a decent mid range card for like 200 (250 or 5770?) and the Xbox. Though honestly I have both and the xbox gets turned on about twice a month |

Right now I've got an Intel e5200 core2 duo.
But a lot of what I've read says that the new CPU's make a significant difference in FPS in the newer games. |

It's good but the 2 graphic cards you listed are a touch low for the rest of that system. Don't get me wrong they will do fine, but you said something with enough power to play everything now and in the future.
GTX 460's are cheap right now, offer the best price/performance and will put both of those cards you listed to shame. They also run very cool, quiet, and draw very little power.
If a 460 puts you over your budget you can definitely get away with cheaper ram than that. Generic Samsung DDR3 @1333MHz will be fine for that system, and half the price of those Ripjaws. And unless you plan to overclock or do ram benchmarking, you won't notice a difference. |

The only problem is that the graphics card is 1.5-2x the price of the others. It's about 300K won.
I'd only save 50K downgrading the RAM. |

Indeed. I just think a nice shiny i5 should go with a new generation graphics card :p
The 5770 is a good card though. |

I would get the PS3. I got an Xbox 360 and I hate the freaking Region Locks. I can't play Final fantasy 13 nor can I play NCAA Football 11.
In hindsight, I should've gone PS3. |

Yeah, especially now that it's hackable. |

I'd give it a month if you're hoping to get a PS3 for erm... hackablity. Wouldn't be surprised if Sony crushes this like a bug. Fingers crossed, though. A hacked PS3 would give me the trifecta |

Yes, I think I'm going to give up on the upgrade. The only reason for it would be games, and it's going to cost at least twice as much as a console.
Now, just to decide between the PS3 and the Xbox slim.
And yes, I will give it a month. I'm still waiting to see how difficult the public hack for the Xbox slim will be. But it has been hacked. |

PS3 all the way. I've had 3 xboxes and they all broke. All of my friends who have xboxes have had them break too. I'm not convinced they've really fixed the problem. Shoddy equipment. |

ive got a modded xbox (u can get for $220 in yongasn) and am thinking of getting this ps3 package...for playing the ps3 exclusives...some games online and i like the look fo the motion controller on ps3 rather than that kinect bullturd
http://blog.danawa.com/prod/?prod_c=1177656&cate_c1=1393&cate_c2=1395&cate_c3=1407&cate_c4=0
those together would come in at about your $700 budget and give you access to cheap games (xbox torrents)...ps3 (motion control and online action)...best of both worlds i reckon |
