Are there any newbies or ESL teachers moving to Busan in the next few weeks. I am interested in finding someone to scavenger the city with that is new to it as well. I am from Florida and will be coming over the end of this month Lord willing. Please let me know if you are interested...also anyone who has yet to find a school yet, I've done my homework and the school I'm going to is owned by an international company so I am assuming it's reputable. Also they have housing avalible right near Haeyudae Beach that was recently built in the last year as is fairly new .Write here if you are interested in a spot or sightseeing around town.

Now now beaver...I live near Haeundae...and while its no wakiki its certainly not a hole.... Rolling Eyes

Its over crowded in the summer but its still the beach...

However the OP being from Florida will have to adjust her expectations of what a "beach" is! Laughing

Also,

Miami-girl...are you coming or going? Laughing

Here you say you are coming to Busan (from Florida) at the end of the month.

In another thread you ask about cheap flights to the US from Korea....hmmmm...very strange. Laughing

I am moving to Busan, and no I am not expecting Miami beack ok!! Secondly just because I am moving TO Busan doesn't mean I am not checking the prices of airfare from Korea to the states...one has nothing to do with the other!! And not that its any of your business but I am going to the states to interview with the US foreign service!!
SO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION: Is anyone moving to Busan in the near future, or has, and want to hook up and sightsee. Please lets not get off subject again Embarassed ...thanks Smile

There are always people moving to Busan. Your first weekend, just go to the local foreign bar and you will be able to meet more than enough people who want to see the city.

Just lose the attitude before you get here. It will make things alot easier on ya.

No worries miami-girl.

However why come here at all if you will be interviewing for the US Foreign service (I assume for a job)?

Why sign a contract with a school if you might have to break it because of a new job with the US Foreign Service?

FUBAR is right...hit the local bars in Busan, you will meet plenty of waeguks (newbies or not) and will get all the info you need.

I do not have an attitiude problem, I am just tired of starting a thread and then people turn it into their own ramped discussion. I didn't mean to come off harshily I would just like a direct answer to a direct question. Thanks for the advice on the bar though Very Happy , I do appreciate it.

While this is again of the subject in question...I am applying for a job with the foreign service, but the application process takes at least 10 months just so you can be put on a waiting list for a job after sucessfully completing it. The average wait from the start of the process to securing employment normally takes about 16 months which is ample time, and besides my school is well aware of the situation. I think that this is great timing and would help aid my ability to get a job with having lived abroad. Cool

No prob. There is a good one place for you called Join. It's across from the Marriot Hotel in Haeundae, just off the beach. Good place to meet people if you don't have any foreign co-workers.

cheers!

I am not trying to be rude and sorry if I came off that way. Any info is helpful...I just hate when no one answers my questions. Thanks for the info on where to go and feel free to offer more! Do people in these forums ever set up get togethers at hangouts to meet each other and just chill? I am going to be working with several other teachers, but I have been advise to not spend to much time with them utsaide of work as to not mix business with pleasure. Thanks again! Smile

In the Pusan National University (PNU) Area:

Crossroads
Soul trane
Monk (is it still open?)

In Somyon:

Many bars cater to foreigners

Also, you will be working here right...I have a crazy idea that just might work...if your daring enough to try it.

Here it is: ask your coworkers! Yes I know it's a crazy idea but its nuts enough that it just migth work....yes indeed.

There are some other regional hangouts (like Join), but I don't know where they are.
