Hi all. I was hoping you could help me with sms slang or new words that have entered the language due to cellphones or texting.
Example: sext, textese or using the word 'book' to mean 'cool' (due to predictive text)
I'm not looking for abbreviations like gr8, c u l8r etc (unless they are usable outside of text messages, as in speech).
Thanks. |

You won't find a book on this, most of it is made up on the spot and you have to figured out the real meaning using context
Your best bet is urbandictionary.com |

Thanks. Me likey.
I found a list of words used by kids because of predictive text, but I am also trying to make a list of words 'about' texting. 'Texting' itself is an example, where the noun 'text' has been turned into a verb with the '-ing' inflection/suffix (same with SMSing).
Are there any other words anyone can think of that were generated from cellphone text messaging? |
