Hi folks,
My wisdom teeth are coming in and I want an x-ray to check that they not impacted. Are dentist visits covered by health insurance?
Thanks. |

Most dental work is not covered under the National Health Insurance Plan however I know that young children first set of teeth are covered so I would assume that wisdom teeth are covered.
But that is all. Other dental work you need to pay yourself or have private dental insurance. |

I found quite a bit is covered, but it is never clear just what is and isn't. For instance, I went in because I was having some pain and had an X-ray and treatment. The fee was 6,000 won. The clinic did a full x-ray with the machine that goes around your head as it x-rays you.
It sounds like you need them to focus on the back of your mouth though. I hope they aren't impacted. When I was in college I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled. It wasn't fun to put it mildly. |

I've never had the cleaning/scaling covered...but I've also never paid more than 60,000 won for it.
I think basic fillings (amalgam) are covered and very cheap if using insurance. the "resin" fillings would not be covered.
i imagine an xray would be pretty cheap (i've noticed they are stingy/reluctant to give xrays...or maybe in the US dentists are just x-ray happy) |
