This is not a religious negativity approach but thought it was appropriate. So please, if you take offense at this title it is not my intention to blaspheme your belief or faith.
I was in Sadang this afternoon and by 5pm some parts of the streets were half a foot full of water. It was brown which is understandable as the runoff would have come from the surrounding hills. Was in a coffee shop and literally stuck there. and waited until about 7pm until the water subsided.
Many parts of the streets and sidewalks were then covered in debris and mud. Not thick but was clearly visible of what was left behind after the storm. I then got on the subway and I had the joy of being the only person in the car. But by the time I got to my place (central Seoul) it was nothing like what I saw of the after-math in Sadang.
Did anyone experience the huge downpour> |

I had the pleasure of watching cars float away down the river in Anyang. Great times.
On epic guy in particular waded waist deep into the water, got into his car, started it up and slowly float/drove it all the way around onto the ramp and out onto the road, all the while the horn being permanently on. The smoke it created was intense.
Korean Spirit for you. |

Why would anyone with half a brain turn their car on when it's in waist-deep water. That's just stupid as hell. |

seoul got around 12" (300mm) of rain yesterday most of it in around 6 hours at one point it was falling at 100mm/hr, it was all over the news, major street flooding everywhere. probably the worst rainstorm i've ever seen in korea and a top 5 anywhere i've been
thing was it was only in a very narrow band from incheon to chuncheon and maybe 50k wide |

I got on the train in Sanbon and it was raining lightly. The train stopped at Sadang and there was a foot of water in the street. I'm not entirely clear on what happened in between. |

I was in Bucheon for a year and the weather was relatively mild/unremarkable.
It seems in the last month you guys have had all kinds of flooding/typhoon action. What the hell? |

My area was (maybe still is... haven't gone outside yet) pretty flooded.
I was in Bundang on Monday night, and spent a good chunk of the day on the subway yesterday to get back to Incheon. Finally got above ground to find that buses were delayed or possibly not running, so I decided to cycle home in the rain. Ended up having to wheel my bike through thigh-deep water. Luckily I was wearing shorts, but I looked completely ridiculous... the guys redirecting traffic started apologising to me. |

I'll start looking for Noah when the water reaches the roof of my officetel, but as the story goes, you should see a rainbow eventually. That represents God's promise to never again destroy the earth with water...and for what it's worth, I don't know any Christians who would be offended by references to Noah when there's a flood. Most of the time, if a bible related joke can be squeezed into a situation, we are the first to do it. Remember Bill Cosby's take on the Noah story? We love that! |

I always thought to myself... What a wonderful life.
No, I always thought to myself when it rained here that Korea has a great system superior to England. The drains never seem to over flow and cause flooding like they do in england the moment a single drop lands on the ground, the sewers here must be deep as the earth.
Yesterday I looked out at the rain and saw a drain that was just starting to overflow, and I realised instant doom was upon us all. That's when I went out to see how things were.
I don't think anybody would be cycling in this http://www.box.net/shared/3ufuzo99s0 |
