So!
I'd like to catch the RockTigers show at Club FF on Friday night. However, I have absolutely no idea where Club FF -is-, well, apart from being in Hongdae.
So, anyone here on the board been there? What's the easiest way to get there? How late are they open? Will I have any trouble getting in? Should I show up early? Anything else I should know?
Thanks for the help! |

Be careful. Club FF was were I was brutally assaulted by three bouncers. I ended up in the hospital. (I didn't do anything to them or anyone else). It started when one of their bouncer friends sexually assaulted a Swiss exchange student (by grabbing her breasts) and her former-pro boxer Mexican friend knocked him into the next world... (Since they were cowards and had no chance of taking on her Mexican friend (6'5" 225 lbs of boxer) they decided that I made a good target for retaliation? I still don't understand why they picked me.)
Honestly, don't go there. I say it not because I am bitter but because I genuinely care about people's safety. I liked going to FF before that happened. I am not the only person I have heard of that has been assaulted at Club FF.
Avoid Avoid Avoid!
They also stole my coat for some reason? It was -12 out that night. They did it just to spite me. Losers. |

What happened to the boxer guy?
What ended up happening? Surely you got money out of this or something.
Kind of a fishy story, but I am truly sorry if that happened to you. |

Not a fishy story at all. It's as crazy as it sounds. The Mexican boxer (I know he was because I knew who he was through friends) ran away with the Swiss girl. This left me and my Dutch friend (who I told to run away, so he did) to take on the bouncers of Club FF.
We got no money out of it. They would have claimed that I assaulted the Korean guy and would have denied sexually assaulting the girl. No point in ever calling the Korean police.
In addition to this, the doctor at the hospital told me that as the victim of a crime, I have to pay the medical bills. But, if I "fell down the stairs" in an accident, my insurance would cover the damage to my face.
The doctor told me that the moment I filed a police report, I had to pay. Then, if the police caught the bouncers, they would make them reimburse me. The doctor (Aju University Hospital in Suwon), told me to lie.
I chose the easier option.
They put their hands around my throat to choke me out. I thought at that moment that I was going to die.
I also believe that the attack was racially motivated. (As they kept calling me "bekinseki" as they kicked and punched me in the head, stomach and side).
Don't go to Club FF, it's dangerous.
I am honestly only saying this because I don't want anyone else to have the same thing happen to them. |

Chris - how many bouncers were there? I've only ever seen one guy in a suit. The other guys at the door always seem pretty nice. The owner of the club is married to a white woman. If your story is true get in touch with him and explain what happened.
If you got beaten up then there should be witnesses. |

I believe the story but it's really out of line with all my experiemcee there and at Ting Tings. I've generally found the staff there to be some of the friendliest in Hongdae. |

I was there with my Romanian friend, when my Polish, Turkish and Columbian friends started singing along with my Vietnamese friend on stage. True story. |

Before this happened all my experiences at Club FF were positive. I want to emphasis that this was out of the ordinary for my experiences at Club FF. However, this still happened. And the sexual assault on the Swiss girl also happened.
There were 4 bouncers. One bouncer? (he was dressed the same and seemed to know them) got $%^&ed up by the Mexican. So, that makes three. I think that 2 of them came from another club to "help out." (The club in the basement next door?)
It's possible that the other 3 didn't know that the sexual assault happened and were just trying to get revenge for what they thought was an unprovoked attack? I am speculating because I don't know their motivations.
This event took place at in an alley nearby. They dragged me there and beat me up. (well it was a combination of me running there, and then them dragging me somewhere that no one would see.) Obviously, I was drunk at the time so running quickly (I remember that I left them in the dust initially though) for long periods of time is difficult.
This happened in Dec 2009.
Other than a Korean couple (I think?) who walked by while it was happening, no one else witnessed it happen. However, there were several witnesses to the sexual assault. And there were several people who must have witnessed me running away with them chasing me.
Maybe the owners of FF should realize that I am not the only person this has happened to. Eventually someone is going to sue them. You should tell your friends this. It's called Vicarious Liability in Canada. An employer will be held liable for the actions of his employees. The problem is proving it... Like I said, they could just deny everything.
As for garybliss123... Patronizing me isn't cool.
I knew these Dutch, Mexican, Swiss, Swedish people from Aju University. They were exchange students there. I was teaching English at Yushin High school next to the university. |

Being that this happened in Dec 2009, and I now live in Canada, contacting the owner of Club FF, who would be stupid to talk to me without a lawyer, is out of the question.
If someone who could potentially sue you wanted to talk to you, would you?
I would need to get a lawyer. Expensive, and a positive outcome for me would be very unlikely.
I am not returning to Korea to "talk to" the owner of Club FF. If I returned, it would be to sue him. And I wouldn't get very much money. The medical bill was about W500,000 without insurance. The insurance halved that. I would probably only get 2-5 million won for pain and suffering. Not worth the plane ticket!
Additionally, I would be liable for insurance fraud since I claimed that I fell down the stairs in order to make a claim on my insurance. I was so mad when I learned that insurance in Korea doesn't cover things like rape or assaults. In Korea victims pay. (And if they catch the criminal they make him reimburse you.) Sad system. But that's a side topic. |

Rock Tigers are just a watered down copy of the Japanese band Sheena and the Rockets. They go to Japan to buy their musical gear, anyway.
Thats always gotten under my skin. The name even is borrowed.
Sheena..brooding, sexy Japanobilly, hell bent on leather and style.
Tigers...ooh, we wear funny clothing like the us in the 50s, bobby socks and all, and play watered-down blues.
dunno about the club. |

Yeah, you'd be hard-pressed to find a band or performer in Hongdae who isn't a watered down copy of some genre. There may be some who do a genre better than others, but not anyone who's really blazing their own trail at the level that other bands from New York and London are going to be dropping everything and coming over to get their fill of that "Seoul Sound". |

The place isn't THAT dangerous. You guys make it sound like it's Bagdad.
I've played around 40 shows there and never had any kind of problem.
I did see some of the bouncers throwing a guy out onto the street, but only because he was acting like a douche. Even then they just grabbed him by the shirt, pulled him onto the street, and left him.
Don't let these few bad experiences spoil a chance to see the Rock Tigers. |

I only go to Club FF to get in fights and to intimidate and show my strength around other males. I am the leader of the pack, the alpha-male. |
