|
|
I have seen a few LED desk lamps for ridiculous prices, but the point is I want to add more atmosphere/mood/homeyness to my place with a normal desk lamp and lampshade. Do they exist here? I have searched quite a few places to no success.
Thanks a bunch
p.s. also in search of curtains. I've had my blanket pinned over my window for a month now... |

I don't remember the specifics but emart definitely has little lamps for a desk. |

If you walk around your neighborhood or other areas, you'll eventually run into a light store. Usually a small neighborhood store. Ask your co teacher for one if you can't find one. It's better to go there and choose the type of light you want. Koreans love flourecant lighting to an extreme. Sometimes, it's nice to get that yellow lighting for a western style coziness. E mart might let you down on poor selection. |

For curtains, I'd go to a market where they sell cloth and get some dark-colored fabric and pin it up. |

I got a nice little lamp for my nightstand off craigslist a few months ago. It was only 5,000 Won which made it about 40,000 Won cheaper than the cheapest one at E-Mart/Home Plus. Maybe craigslist would be a good option for you? |

Yes. A second hand lamp would probably be the cheapest you'll find. (Free if you manage to find one being tossed in the trash.)
Otherwise, Homeplus, E-Mart and maybe Hi-Mart will probably have a cheap one that will suit your. |

Yeah, I have been without a lamp for the past 2 months, my dog chewed the cord off the last one. It just seems insane to pay 35,000won for a cheap little desk lamp at e-mart. Which I have noticed seems to be the cheapest and they are all ugly.
For curtains, I was in Express Bus Terminal yesterday and I noticed in the basement dungeon shopping area, they have a nice selection of curtains and rugs that are semi decent and devoid of sparkles, flowers and butterflies. Some nice simple designs.
I look on gmarket all the time, I just imagine that purchasing something off the website is painful and frustrating, truth? Opinions? |

Why don't you just fix the cord on the one you have? If you have enough cord coming out of the plug, you can repair it with electrical tape. If you don't have enough cord, you can buy a meter of it at any electrical store. You can even buy a new plug. It would be a lot cheaper than buying a whole new lamp. |

It's already trashed. Even if it wasn't I think I would have smashed the lamp in frustration before I would have been able to figure out how to put a new cord on it. I just crumpled 3 rolls of contact paper trying to paper a small area in my kitchen. |

Try the lamp district, between Jongno3ga and Jogno5ga, south of the road, north of Cheongyecheon, plenty of lamps (and other electrical needs) at cheap prices, much better than the crap stuff/luxury prices of the local Emart/homeplus/etc. |
