|
|
Hi everyone! I am applying to the EPIK program for February 2011. I have read a lot online but am still not sure which locations would fit me best.
I am going with my boyfriend, so I am not super worried about a huge English speaking population. Of course, I'd like to make English speaking friends, but it's not my main concern. We are not big city people; we like hiking and mountains and would LOVE to be near the beach. Since I can only apply to provinces and not specific cities with EPIK, I am considering: Jeju, Gangwon, and Jeollanam. Would those be a good fit for us? Any other suggestions? My only concern about Jeju is that it will be fairly difficult to travel. Is it more likely in any of these that my boyfriend and I will be placed farther/closer apart?
Thanks so much for all your help! |

I've been to all those locations and they're all nice, but in my opinion, Jeju and Gangwon are nice to visit but I'd rather live in Jeollanamdo.
To live in Jeju would be like living in exile, and its like being in a sauna in summer. Gangwon is freezebutt cold in winter.
I lived in Jeollanamdo for a while and theres islands mountains etc. Its a beautiful province with many hidden treasures. |

| Gangwon is risky b/c placement in a specific town is not guaranteed. Some towns are extremely rural and are 6 hours from Seoul. Credible information has been passed down from several sources that gangwon is greatly reducing 2011 epik hiring and might not even hire any new epik teachers. |
