Inspired by the fingernail dye + bubble flops threads.
What are some of the more interesting fashion trends you've seen here?
- Bubble flops (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NPIvDyUlScs/TF9YtbiaamI/AAAAAAAAAYQ/OKzYALHSsWs/s1600/bubble.jpg)
- Weird pedicures: only painting the big toe, or painting every toe but leaving the big toe unpainted. |

When I first came, I thought the fashionable young teen girl hairstyle at the time was weird. I'm talking about that long pageboy (shoulder length) with the long, curled-under bangs, and the pieces near the face curled inward. To me, it looked really retro-dorky. Now, I think it's cute, but it isn't so popular anymore. |

I've discussed this big toe painting with some friends, and we've concluded that these ladies have fungus. It show up more on the big toe than the rest.
Ick! |

Women - the ultra pointy fairy style, pastel coloured cutesy shoes. Ick!
Men - grown men wairing leg hugging mid-calf length pants = NO!
I must admit I'm most happy in jeans and a wife beater, so not really a great judge. |

I just wish the young women here would wear clothes that were suitable for the weather and fit them nicely, or at least in a way that flatters their little figures.
Yesterday, I saw this really skinny chick wearing a pair of jeans that were so tight that she had camel toe in a light color that made it look like she had serious cellulite. She couldn't have had much cellulite, her thighs didn't come close to touching and she had no behind! |

Ok, here are some FREE fashion tips.
(According to another post about Koreans and their offensive comments, they should be taking this post as a constructive criticism)
1. Shiny suits!! -Please, get rid of them!
2. Women who wear high heels, but can't really walk on them, end up looking like ducks. -Stop it, or learn to walk!
3. Young women in "grandma" style.
4. Baggy-baggy shirts. -Well, it is probably the best choice though, if you have a typical Korean body.
5. Very short skirts and shorts at work!!! Very unprofessional and ridiculous. -Unless you work on a hookers' hill, buy something elegant for work.
6. Please, if you don't have good legs (and if you are Korean, you most probably don't), cover them, avoid minis, leggings, and tight jeans.
7. Also, avoid minis, if you have white legs with bruises, bites, etc.
8. We understand, that you are tired of black hair, but orange is even worse. -Just deal with it, you can't become blond.
9. We understand that you like pale white face, but stop putting tons of white make-up, it makes you look like a ghost.
10. Leggings and sandals? No-no-no, it's a fashion taboo!
11. Do you really think you bought a real Gucci or Coach for 30,000 won?
12. Before buying a t-shirt, try to translate what English writing on it says! |

The one I have seen lately, it with men's brand shirts (or imitation brands) that have the name of the brand on the back of the collar, so the guys are walking around with their collars flipped up (like the 50's) to show the wording on the back. HUGE collars I tell you....
Been here 6 years so I'm not sure if that is being done back home as well..but yeah looks silly to me... |
