|
|
I want to study korean online, though I want it to be quick simple and easy I previously have studied chinese for 5 years...though my time to study korean is very limited,
I really want a site which constantly grades you, I dont want the sites like podcasts which run through stuff without grading you or testing you! I find this takes to long to acquire acquisition of language...
any sites ppl know of??
Also prices of this sites and if certificates are available because these are great motivation tools and good on a resume |

Hmm. I came in to recommend talktomeinkorean.com from Hyunwoo Sun, but it's closer to the podcast type thing which you're trying to avoid. Maybe check them out in the meantime? It's really great stuff - Audio, PDFs to go along with lessons, videos, personal responses to questions. Really great people. |

yeah I currently listen podcasts from TalktomeinKorean it is good stuff (that guy is completely annoying though, seems like he is trying to hit on the girl all the time, and keeps saying korean is easy for him and he is good at it)..... its good stuff for when I am at gym but it isnt helping with acquisition of the language I think i need some formal study straight up but there are no schools near me and I am going to Korea soon... |

You can try to pick up a book/CD combo, that may help.
There are lots of places to learn Korean more formally once you're actually in country. These range from the 1-1.5 thousand dollar semesters at the universities to private institutes, to personal tutors. Also, immersion can do wonders.
I showed up with just some basic 'survival' Korean - Hello/Goodbye, Thank You, I'm sorry.. that's about it. It was interesting sometimes, tough sometimes, but it was OK. So, I wouldn't worry too much about not knowing Korean before you get here. Of course, more always helps! |

www.livemocha.com
The good: It's Facebook plus languages. They give you lessons, and practice. Then you get a grade.
The bad: It's for learning European languages. So they try to teach you: I, you, he, she, it, we, they, which are things not really needed when learning Korean. At least not in the beginning.... |

Learn-Korean-Now.com is not too bad. Its not a free online site but its only$5 a month. You can phonetically hear what you're tested on and part of the test is phonics. I like it as a supplement to what I'm studying elsewhere. Free 3 day trial so you don't have to commit financially if its not your cup of tea. |

haha! thanks for all the replies! unfortunately I am a spurs supporter .... I mean going on last seasons results fortunately I am, Sorry i forgot we did well last season cause u seem to forget when u usually float around mid table .
I already speak chinese so learning a third language is a push as the motivation and time is lacking since I am out of uni. As they say the older you get the harder, so I thought a test website would be good after work or at gym....
Yeah Thanks I am planning on signing up to a course at uni, I did some for chinese years back and they are great cause they keep you on your toes to learn faster because of constant testing and interactive classes which a daunting if u fall behind. |

I've also been using Talk To Me In Korean, I've got all the audio lessons & the PDFs saved to my dropbox so I can get at them whenever I have a free moment. There are a few worksheets, but other than that, there really isn't much self-testing.
Another thing I would recommend is trying to find a conversation exchange partner (or two, or three haha). I used conversationexchange.com and I've gotten quite a few messages from people all over the place. Basically, they help you with your Korean and you help them with their English. I've been chatting with someone in Seoul using skype for a week or so, and it's helped a lot with improving my pronunciation. There's quite a few people looking for in-person meetings as well. It's worth checking out.
I do agree that it's sometimes difficult to figure out what order you should learn things in if you're not in a formal classroom setting. I've found myself wondering quite a few times what I should try to learn next, though the TTMIK podcasts do give a pretty good progression. |

Try this website and see if it works. I really like this website.
As of 5 years ago there was a program near Sukmyung University that taught Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Korean through donations of 1000 or more won per student.
Try this link first and let me know if this works for you
