I was confused before I left Korea, and I'm still confused now.
--I never got my ARC or even did the medical exam, so I heard that my E2 is going to expire after 90 days in any case
--I got fired after 2 months
--I had my employer file the LOR, BUT.... I don't know if he actually did, and I don't know if it's possible for him to file it without both of us going into the immigration office together.
I am now back in New York and ready to start over again looking for a job that will better suit me (getting fired from that one was a blessing). However, I don't know if my original E2 is actually canceled and therefore if I can get another job in Korea right away. Is there any way to find out for sure?
For the record, while I was in Korea, I could not get a straight answer from anyone-- not from the school, the recruiter, immigration, or the US embassy. In fact, there was only one person at the US embassy who could speak English, and no one there seemed particularly concerned that I was having a serious problem. Not to go off topic here, but I'm supposed to trust these people in a real life-threatening emergency?
In any case, is my E2 visa going to automatically expire in a few weeks since I never got my ARC? Will I run into problems trying to get another job in Korea? Should I just say "screw it" and go to Japan instead? Does ANYONE have a straight answer? |

If you never had or submitted a health check done in korea, then your visa was cancelled 90 days after you arrived. If 90 days has past, it is cancelled.
The only way to know if they will grant you another visa is to apply for one. If it hasnt been 90 days since your arrival in korea, wait until it has and apply after that. |

What was your question? A serious problem for you in Korea does not equal an emergency at the US Embassy. |

If you did not get a ARC then your visa expires in 90 days from date of issuance.
As far as the embassy goes they state on their website that they will not get involved in a employment dispute. That's not what embassies are for. That's why they weren't particularly concerned, they have no jurisdiction in this area. |
