so I left Korea about a month ago. (my hagwon canceled my contract and sent me home because we had lost over 2/3's of our students.) Now working with recruiters, I have seen that many of them are asking me for referrals from my former employer. Problem is, I dont have one from my Korean head teacher or a release letter. Some people are telling me that I dont need one while others are saying it is absolutely necessary. Now the questions I have are as follows

1. Do I need these referral
2. If I do, how do I get it?
3. Am I going to run into problems later down the road?

Thanks for all the help forum!

James

Apply all over again--with the documents and all. If you're home, you have to start all over. Don't say anything about being let go. Just say it was a voluntary quit--chances are you canceled your Visa the day you left, so you don't need a release letter if you've been gone for a month and are in your home country. As for referrals, ask someone who you liked at your old job. Maybe they'd be able to help you.

Good luck!
