i am heading to taiwan on tuesday and just read this:

i am supposed to be spending my first 2 nights in hualien (hotel booked), which was hit the hardest

At least it's long gone, because it already happened. I too was considering 2 weeks ago of going to Taiwan for Chuseok, but thought, "oh man, it's going to be a typhoon for sure with my luck." I was almost right, it came a few days earlier than I thought it would. Since I found out I'm not getting the 9 days since I have to work Monday, I opted out of flying out and decided to just piddled around here trying to catch American bass with an extra long weekend to blow about $200 instead of $1500 on a 5 day plane trip. Saving my money to get more travel time for my expensive flights than a paltry 5 days.

yeah i'm just worried i won't be able to get to hualien, or that my hotel will be closed. at least i wasn't there when it hit... look on the bright side i guess
