|
|
I just moved to an apartment in Korea with, *gasp* an oven!
However I have no idea how it works. Foolishly I hit a few buttons and then realized i"m not entirely sure how to turn it off.
I think it's off but I'm not positive. I turned off the gas line so I assume that will take care of it.
Anyway my question is does anyone know how a button may be labeled for 'off' or 'power'? In Hangul.
My phone dictionary only goes so far.
Totally random question, I know. Thanks! |

have one of the Koreans come to your apartment.
Sorry, but that may be your best bet. |

A picture is worth a thousand words.
Yes, you likely shut the gas off by closing the valve.
Here's our "Magic" oven...
소화 ... means "off".
점 화 ... means "fire". You have to push the knob and turn it to get it to spark. It WILL remain on at whatever setting(180, 220, whatever) you put it at until you actually turn it off...same with electric ranges back home.
It also has a "Broil" function, which works on a timer. You twist(no push for spark necessary) the knob, and it goes for a max of 15 minutes, depending on the number of minutes you choose.
All this is going to depend on the company and model of the stove you have... |

| Why not take a photo of the control panel and show it to a Korean friend? Or post the photo here? |

| An oven? You are SO lucky. Just do something for me and actually use it. I've known four people who've been lucky enough to be blessed with an oven and none of them ever cooked anything. What a waste. If I had one I'd use it all of the time. Just imagine the possibilities- baked chicken, pizza, french fries, cookies, cheesecake, pies, just to name a few that are easy to make in an oven. |

They DO sell more than just toaster ovens here...we have a toaster oven too...it's great, but doesn't quite do the trick for some things.
